The Basis

One George! In the YouTube video, you see a dollar bill with the water droplet, with the voice over saying "The One George Campaign is a simple yet symbolic way we can say thank you." Yeah. Symbolic how? And while I had hoped the water ripple would make sense to those that viewed the video, it somehow was not evident to the judges. So, I'm going to try to explain the "simple yet symbolic" part of the video.

First off, I chose the dollar. The dollar alone won't get you much - maybe a cheesburger at a fast food joint or a few tacos at another. It may buy you a lottery ticket or bottle of water. But when you want something really big - you have to put all those dollars together....one, plus one, plus one, plus one more will buy you a coffee, a box of cereal, a wash and dry at the laundry. It is the same idea for saying thank you to our troops - it shows the number of people that are coming together to say thank you for serving this country. Each dollar represents a voice and the water droplet, it starts with one person. One person to say thank you, come join me and the rest falls into place.

As for the symbolic part...who is on the dollar? George Washington! A man that began his career as a surveyor and became a military hero. He was great but didn't view himself as such, he was a hard worker, dedicated to a cause and above all, wasn't afraid to raise his voice against the power that was not treating the colonists with fairness or respect. Knowing this and understanding what the One George Campaign is all about - not only saying "thank you" but raising our voices and letting others know our veterans deserve to have the benefits and opportunities that were promised, given to them. It is theirs and they earned it. With one dollar we can do all that.....impossible? No. When you see the images of our men and women, their broken bodies and the uphill battle they face with post traumatic stress, traumatic brain injuries, burns, amputations, lack of family or employer support we learn that nothing is impossible - as they are here, and so are we. How can we make a difference....
One George!
