Superbowl Sunday

Well, today is the day - sports fan or not - you are aware of the "big" game. While I'm not a big fan of football I do plan on watching the game for the commercials. What astounds me about the commercials are so very simple but the message carried is memorable.

Will "One George!" be a simple message? I know this past summer while we were visiting Washington D.C., we were able to secure our passes to the Bureau of Engraving and Printing. My daughter, then four exclaimed "This is the best factory ever!" and it was during that tour she yelled out "One George!" I was floored, first of all, she is four. Second of all, she understood the entire "One George!" message. One dollar can go a long way!

Seems to me last year, the best commercial was written by an amateur. The ad featured a guy buying Doritos, I think a bag of each flavor and while I don't remember the message, I do remember the product. I also remember the commercial cost little compared to what it traditionally costs to create an ad campaign. So - we know and understand - less can sometimes be more.

Less can be more in the fund drive I hope to jump start - asking each and every person to say "Thank you" to our wounded veterans, by giving one dollar....seems almost silly. Yet, it can work and it will work, because I truly believe saying thank you is something each and every one of us can do.

In the meantime - enjoy the game and keep in mind, while you are sitting on your couch, sitting in front of your wide, flat screen, hi-def television set, eating chips and dip, washing it down with a beer or soda, thank a soldier for your freedom and keep them in your thoughts.
